Read More	The Scotia Register, Thursday, November 19, 1970, pg 1 Mrs. Mena Jeffres Dies After Long Illness Mrs. Mena Jeffres, 70, died Friday at the St. Paul hospital where she had been a patient for some time. Funeral services were held at the Scotia United Methodist church Monday afternoon at 2, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Leonard S. Clark. Mrs. Neville Cargill sang "In the Garden and "How Great Thou Art." Mrs. M. G. Williams was the Organist. Pallbearers were Adrian Sweet, Ron York, Willis Beck, Carl Lewandowski, Patrick Willey and Vernon Beck. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Williams, Joseph Williams, James Jeffres, Andrew Wilson, Wayne Wilson and Douglas Johnson. Interment was at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Scotia. The Hastings-Pearson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Wilhelmena Marie Jeffres, daughter of William and Sena Larsen Beck, was born Feb. 15, 1900, in Greeley county, Nebr., and departed this life Nov. 13. 1970, at St. Paul, Nebr., at the age of 70 years, eight months and 28 days after a lingering illness. She had lived her entire life in Greeley county with the exception of approximately eight years when she made her home in Grand Island. On March 13, 1922, she was united in marriage to Floyd Jeffres at Ord, Nebr. Mrs. Jeffres was a member of the United Methodist church of Scotia, the Reuben Beck Post No. 150 of the American Legion Auxiliary and was also a Gold Star Sister. She had also for a period of 20 years been employed at the school cafeteria. She leaves to mourn her passing two sons, Delysle, Scotia, and Donald, Burwell; four daughters, Mrs. Darlene Brinkley, Clarksville, Tenn., Mrs. Corrine(sic) Johnson, Scotia, Mrs. Gail Wilson, Elba and Mrs. Caroljean Williams, Grand Island; 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ace Beck, Gilbert, Iowa; and Fred Beck, Scotia; three sisters, Mrs. Edward Dishaw, Scotia; Mrs. Darwin Watts, Grand Island; and Mrs. Grace Palser, Loup City; besides a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and nine brothers. Last residence: NE 68875
