Description	:	Fredrick Curtiss was born at Rome, New York, December 29, 1828 and died at Fairmont, Neb., October 17, 1898, aged 68 years, 10 months and 18 days. In September, 1844, his father and family moved to Bristol, Wis., at which place, under the labors of Rev. R.J. Harvey, during a revival, he was converted to God in 1848. His zeal and abilities in prayer and exhortation soon attracted the attention of the church of his choice, and he was licensed to preach, serving as supply under the Presiding Elder, A.P. Read More	Fredrick Curtiss was born at Rome, New York, December 29, 1828 and died at Fairmont, Neb., October 17, 1898, aged 68 years, 10 months and 18 days. In September, 1844, his father and family moved to Bristol, Wis., at which place, under the labors of Rev. R.J. Harvey, during a revival, he was converted to God in 1848. His zeal and abilities in prayer and exhortation soon attracted the attention of the church of his choice, and he was licensed to preach, serving as supply under the Presiding Elder, A.P. Allen, at Union Mission in 1852. In 1853 he was appointed to Burlington mission. The same year, August, 1853 he was married to Miss Emily M. Pike of Bristol, Wis. Of the ten children born to them, six survive, George W., John Eddy, Lizzie M., Arthur D., Nellie M. and Emma L. He served in the Wisconsin Conference between the years 1853 and 1856 in the following appointments: Burlington, Bristol, Milton, Footville, Emerald Grove, Union, Oxfordville and Bristol again. Feeling the need of a more perfect qualification for the Master's work, he entered Garrett Biblical Institute in 1862 and graduated in 1866. He then joined the Rock River conference and served the following appointments: Wyanet, Malngin's Grove, Elizabeth, Dower's Grove, Sandwich, Lena and Plano. while at Plano, he took a supernumerary relation, his wife's health failing, and moved to Fairmont, Neb., in 1875. From that time he has been engaged for the post part in secular pursuits, preaching and laboring as occasion offered, supplying for a year at Crete and Seward. The circumstances of his death were sudden and overwhelming, but for the fact that there is hope in is death and the He whom he has served "doeth all things well." For years he had been troubled with an apoplectic or heart difficulty which probably so suddenly ended his career. He was ardent, impulsive, zealous and most remarkably gifted in prayer and exhortation. Many souls in glory today and many more who shall follow, will be seals to his ministry. He was human, therefore all who knew him saw virtues and failings.
