Description	:	Pastor H. Nelson Pettit went home to be with his Lord, peacefully in his sleep at his home on December 28, 2009. Pastor Pettit was a graduate of Bob Jones University and served the Lord faithfully for 55 years. For 50 years, he served as a Pastor in Virginia, Indiana, Illinois, and West Virginia. He retired in 2007 after 32 years as Pastor of Smith's Creek Regular Baptist Church in New Market. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Rose Pettit; a sister, Louise Richards; and a brother, Harold Pettit. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Aileen, of Broadway; three children, Candace Davis and husband Bill of Greenville, SC; Faith Fredericks and husband Rob of Leesburg; Philip Pettit and wife Kecia of Broadway; five grandchildren, Sharon Fluegge and husband Tim of Leesburg; Robyn May and husband Robbie of Seoul, South Korea; Bobby Fredericks of Leesburg; Falicia Pettit of Fulks Run; Amanda Pettit of Fulks Run; and a sister Lorraine Sisk and husband Charles of Sperryville. There will be a private graveside service conducted by Dr. E. Wayne Thompson of Rochelle, VA on Thursday December 31, 2009 at Mount Zion Cemetery in Luray, VA. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The body will be at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway, where friends may pay their respects at any time. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Smith's Creek Regular Baptist Church, P.O. Box 99, New Market, VA 22844.
