Read More	RHODA BEATRICE SHELLHORN Rhoda Beatrice Dowding was born January 26, 1881 in Nyland Kington, England and came to Bonner Springs, Kans., with her parents, Thomas and Mary Dowding, at the age of three. she died on January 28, 1972 at the Pawnee Manor Rest Home, Pawnee City, at the age of 91 years and two days. She attended school near Bonner Springs, Kansas, where she lived most of her girlhood. She was married to Jacob Shellhorn on August 3, 1916 at Littleton, Colo. Later they moved to a farm near DuBois where they lived until they retired and moved into Dubois. Mr. Shellhorn passed away on August 4, 1960. Two sisters, Mrs. Martha Commings, Miami, Fla.; Mrs. Hennie Bendixon, Denver, Col.; and two brothers, Will dowding, Bonner Springs, Kans., and Bert Dowding, Eudora, Kans., preceded her in death. She is survived by a brother, Cyril Dowding and wife of Edwardville, Kans., two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Will Dowding, Bonner Springs, Kans. and Mrs. Bert Dowding, Eudora, Kans., and a number of other relatives and friends. Funeral services under the direction of Wherry Mortuary were held on January 31,, at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church of DuBois with burial in the DuBois Cemetery. Rev. Kenneth Garrison officiated at the service. ******************************************************************************************************* Aunt Bea, as she was lovingly called by my siblings and I, kept a cozy little home in DuBois that was so welcoming to us all. The flowers and garden were neatly kept, she did a lot of handiwork, including a footstool made from tomato juice cans and covered with padding and pretty material. I thought it was the perfect seat for me out on the back shady patio. They seemed to enjoy our company as much as we did theirs!
