Mr. Peters died August 29, 1950, and in 1952 Mrs. Peters moved to Nelson where she has since made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Paul Hattan, and son, Herbert Peters. Another son, Forrest, of Holdrege survives. The Rev. Mr. Ewel Vaughan of the Nelson Christian Church will officiate at the Sunday services. Burial is to be made in the Edgar cemetery (sic). The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, December 17, 1959 Rhoda May Crandell was born to James and Hanna Crandell in Beaver Crossing, Nebr., while her parents where enroute to Nuckolls county (sic) on Jan. 11, 1873. After a short illness she departed this life on Dec. 17, 1959, at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, Nebr., at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 6 days. All her life was spent in Nuckolls county (sic), a greater part of it on farms near Oak and Angus. On Dec. 29, 1897, she was united in marriage to Henry W. Peters. To this union were born three children, one daughter and two sons. In December 1949 they held open house at the Church of Christ in Angus, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Her husband passed away in August 1950; thereafter, she made her home with her children, most of the time with her daughter in Nelson, Nebr. At an early age she confessed her faith in her Savior and united with the Baptist church at Oak, later transferring to the OxBow Church of Christ, now the Church of Christ at Angus. She was very active in church work as long as her health permitted. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter, Carrie Hattan of Nelson; two sons, Herbert of Nelson and Forrest of Holdrege, Nebr.; three brothers, Earl of Ponca City, Okla., Joe of Oakland, Calif., and Jess of Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Goldie Gardell of Van Nuys, Calif.; nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives and a host of friends. Following a brief service at the home of her daughter at Nelson, Sunday, Dec. 20, 1959, service was conducted at 2:30 p.m. at the Angus Church of Christ. Rev. Ewel Vaughan, pastor of the Christian Church of Nelson, officiated and was assisted by Loren Daly, minister of the Angus church. Interment was in the Edgar, Nebr., cemetery. Mary Greer, Ruby Melvin, Cloma Jensen and Mabel Skinner sang "Going Down the Valley" and "That Beautiful Land." Mrs. Robert Joy sang "I won't (sic)Have to Cross Jordan Alone." They were accompanied on the piano by Gertrude Skinner. Flower bearers were Dorothy Grossman, Pansy Overturf, Elsie Shafer and Nora Wehrman.
