(Posted courtesy of the Table Rock Historical Society.) Table Rock Argus, May 4, 1928. Riley B.Stevens, 91 years of age, died at the home of his daughter in Joliet, Ills., Saturday, April 28, 1928. Born in New York in September, 1836, came west in the early sixties, went back to Illinois in 1863, lived there eight years, was married, returned to Nebraska in 1871, settled on a farm four miles west of Table Rock, now the Fred Woods home. This was the Stevens home for many years. His wife died in 1883. Two daughter were born, one Mrs. Maude Fisher, who passed away about five years ago; the other now Mrs. Edna Leach of Joliet, Illinois. In February, 1887, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Seckles of Richmond, Mo., who died July 29, 1925. Two daughters, Mrs. Agnes ? of Spokane, Wash., and Mrs. Olive Karsch of Scottsbluff, Nebr. His body was brought to Pawnee City from Joliet by the daughter and her husband, arriving Monday afternoon. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Christian church conducted by the Pastor, Rev. s. S. Reel. Services at the cemetery were in charge of the Masonic order, of which he had long been a member.
