Ritnour, son of J.M. and Alma Ritnour, was born in Adams County, Iowa, January 6, 1891 and died at Benkelman, Nebraska, December 6, 1956, at the age of 65 years, 11 months. He grew to manhood in southwestern Iowa and his main occupation was that of a farmer. He was married February 7, 1927 to Laura Mesna at Maryville, Missouri and to this union one child was born, Betty Agnew of Plattsmouth, Colorado. Surviving relatives are four children by a previous marriage, Opal Bell and Ferrace of Red Oak; Virgil and Eber of Omaha, Nebraska; a sister Rosie Linker of Yakima, Washington; a brother Homer of Villisca; three stepchildren, 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was a member of the Adventist Church at Highland and had been a membr of the Eagles lodge at Red Oak. He was a good father and neighbor and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Services were held Tuesday, December 11, 1956 at 2 p.m. from the Roland Funeral Home in Corning with the Rev. Brown Garlock in charge. Interment was in the Nodaway Cemetery. Music for the services was furnished by Esther roland and John Riegel, accompanied by Mrs. Marvin Elmore, pianist. Pallbearers were Chas Willett, Dick Willett, Vernon Felt, Russell Brown, Jim Timmerman and Orval Ritnour. Adams County Free Press, December 13, 1956, page 10
