Description	:	Richard Alfred Quick was born to Alfred J. Quick and Ruth M. Garwood Quick on February 27,1940, at York, and passed away May 2, 2012 at Autumn House in Lincoln at the age of 72 years, two months, and six days. He was one of six children in the family. Garwood Quick on February 27,1940, at York, and passed away May 2, 2012 at Autumn House in Lincoln at the age of 72 years, two months, and six days. He was one of six children in the family. He attended Fairmont Public School. Richard lived at home and helped with farming and the livestock operations. He then farmed some land on his own in Saline County. He enjoyed custom harvesting and travelling to South Dakota for several years. He trucked grain and livestock from 1959 to 1963. He received his draft notice and served for two years in the Army. Upon his return to civilian life, he returned to driving trucks. He briefly worked as a well driller, and then started G. Kay Trucking and continued trucking until his illness a year ago. Richard was married to Mary J. Lindquist of McCool Junction on September 23,1967, and to them two children were born. He enjoyed trucking for over 50 years accident free. He would later be joined by his son Ken in the trucking business. He belonged to the Fairmont American Legion. He was a member of the NRA. Seven years ago Richard was saved in his home and was baptized shortly thereafter. He and Mary then attended Sutton Community Church. In 2008, he started attending Geneva Baptist Church where he has attended faithfully until his illness. Richard enjoyed time with family and friends and meeting new people. He loved his special dogs, Bailey and Sadie. He was a wonderful husband and dad. His granddaughter Finley, provided love and entertainment. Richard is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers John and Bob. He is survived by his wife Mary; sons, Ron and his wife Melissa; Ken and special friend Jody; brother James and his wife Patricia; sisters, Donna Rathje; and Delores Veskma; and his granddaughter Finley. Funeral services were conducted from the United Methodist Church in Geneva on Monday, May 7, with Pastor Ron Harris and Pastor Tim Bullock officiating. Sondra Myers accompanied Mick Goc who sang "Softly and Tenderly". Recorded selections for the service were "Against the Wind," "When I'm Back on My Feet Again" and "Roll On (Eighteen Wheeler)." Casket bearers were Jake Veskrna, Kurt Veskrna, Roger Jacobsen, Dennis Volkmer, Henry Hanson, and Mick Goc. Military honors were provided by the Fairmont American Legion Lt. Forbes Post No. 21 and interment was in the Fairmont Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal May 16th, 2012 page 14.
