Quick was born to Alden Garwood and Verna Austin Garwood at McCool Junction, on August 16, 1904, and passed away January 13, 1993, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 27 days. Quick was born to Alden Garwood and Verna Austin Garwood at McCool Junction, on August 16, 1904, and passed away January 13, 1993, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 27 days. She was one of five children in the family. Ruth grew up in the York area and graduated from the York Academy. She attended York College where she majored in art and music. Ruth was united in marriage to Alfred J. Quick in November of 1927. To this union six children were born. They farmed near Bradshaw after their marriage. They moved to Fairmont where the family continued to farm until she moved to Geneva. Heritage of Geneva became her home in April of 1976. Ruth spent many hours crocheting and making crafts, she had no problem keeping busy. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was a friend to many. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Ruth was a member of the United Methodist church and a member of the Goldenrod Kensington for many years. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred; son, Robert and two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by three sons, John and wife, Doris of Omaha; Richard and wife, Mary and James and wife, Patricia, both of Geneva; two daughters, Donna Rathje and husband Harry of York, and Delores Veskma and husband, Donald of David City; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Quick of Fairmont; 18 grand children; 31 great-grandchildren and four great-great- grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from the United Methodist church in Geneva on Saturday, January 16, with the Rev. Stan Rider officiating. Carol Frey accompanied Chet Frey and herself and they sang "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and "Amazing Grace"; and the congregation who sang "How Great Thou Art." Active pallbearers were Scott Rathje, Kelly Veskma, Ronald Quick, Justin Sole, Allen Quick and Kelly Quick. Honorary pallbearers were Steven Quick, Michael Quick, David Quick, Mark Quick, Kenneth Quick, Jim Whitehead and Robert Galusha. Interment was in the Fairmont Public cemetery.
