Description	:	"Richard A. Emry was born at Pleasant Plains, Iowa, in 1849 and died at his home at Erickson, Nebraska, on Friday evening, February 2, 1923. He was united in marriage February 22, 1874 to Miss Elizabeth Swain. To this union 9 children were born, 8 of whom are living: Gilbert G. of Boelus, Ray, DeWitt and Mrs Bessie Conner of Ericson, Thos. R. of Rifle, Colorado, Ralph E. of Grant, Nebraska and James and Stanley of Comstock. Emry was born at Pleasant Plains, Iowa, in 1849 and died at his home at Erickson, Nebraska, on Friday evening, February 2, 1923. He was united in marriage February 22, 1874 to Miss Elizabeth Swain. Mr Emry was an early settler of this state, having homesteaded the present town site of Halsey in 1880 and was the first school teacher in Thedford. He was a resident of Comstock from 1911 to 1916 and was held in great esteem by those who knew him. Death was caused by congestion of the lungs and a weak heart. Funeral services were held at Ericson Sunday afternoon and interment made in the Douglas Grove Cemetery west of Comstock Monday. RICHARD A. EMRY This community was saddened last Friday evening when it learned that Grandpa or Daddy Emry, as he was lovingly called by young and old, had passed away. While it was known he was very sick with the prevailing sickness the grippe or flu, it was the hope of his many friends that he would soon be up and around again. But it was not to be so and he passed away between nine and ten o'clock that evening. Richard A. Emry was born in the state of Iowa, May 29, 1849 and departed this life February 2, 1923 at the age of 74 years. He leaves to mourn his death, a loving wife, seven sons and one daughter besides a number of other relatives and a host of friends. The remains were taken to Comstock Monday morning for burial.
