Description	:	"Mrs Elizabeth Emry, an old pioneer school teacher, and for many years a resident of this community, passed away at the home of her son, Gilbert G. Emry, last Friday, May 5, 1933, at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 26 days. Grandma Emry, as she was known, has been failing in health for some time, and her eye-sight had almost totally failed her. Grandma Emry, as she was known, has been failing in health for some time, and her eye-sight had almost totally failed her. However, she was always in the best of spirits and the writer has heard her say that she didn't mind in the fact that her eyesight was failing her because her eyes had served her well. Sarah Elizabeth Swain, daughter of Aaron and Betsey (Baker) Swain, was born in Shiawassee county, Michigan, August 9th, 1849. At the age of about 3 years, she moved with her parents to Big Prairie, Michigan, where she lived until the time of her marriage to Richard A. Emry on the eleventh day of February, 1874. To this marriage were born nine children, James G., Stanley V., and Gilbert G., of Comstock, Nebr., Ray D. of Burwell, Nebr., Ralph E., of Loma Colo., John D., and Mrs. Bessie Conner of Rifle, Colorado. Two sons, Thomas R. and Joseph A. having proceeded her in death. She leaves to mourn her loss, besides the above mentioned children and their families, one brother, J.F. Swain of Boelus, Nebr., and his family, also a host of other relatives and friends. At the age of about twenty years, she became a member of the Baptist church, and lived a consistent Christian life up until the time of her death. Funeral services were held from the Comstock Community Church Sunday afternoon and interment was made in the Douglas Grove Cemetery where she was laid to rest by the side of her husband who preceeded her in death at Erickson, Nebraska, February 2nd, 1923. ... Rev Earl E. Dahistedt of Loup City preached the sermon. He read the 90th Psalm and text for sermon was the 46 verse of 23 chapter of St. Luke "Father into thy hands I commend my spirit" (Grandma chose this text very near the last.)
