Description	:	Richard Goodman, Jr., (LL. B., Harvard, 1871), was born in New York, April 2nd, 1846, and prepared for college at the Edwards Place School, Stockbridge, Mass. After graduation [from Amherst College, in 1869] Goodman went to Cambridge to study law, and was made LL. B. June, 1871. He at once sailed for Europe, and traveled in Scotland, England and on the Continent six months. On his return he resumed the study of law in a Boston office, and was admitted to the bar in 1872. After graduation [from Amherst College, in 1869] Goodman went to Cambridge to study law, and was made LL. B. June, 1871. After practicing two years in Boston he removed to New York, remaining one year in the offices of Scribner & Robinson. But the practice of law was no match for the attractions of Lenox. Goodman left New York in 1877, and has since resided on his father's farm at Lenox, where, surrounded with books and pictures, and the charming scenery of Berkshire, the superintendence of an extensive farm, stocked with one of the finest herds of Jersey cattle in the State, gives him more congenial occupation than the preparation of briefs or the pleading of causes. If the bar lost a light, agriculture gained a champion. Richard takes interest and part in the various agricultural, social, and literary societies of Lenox, and is well known as an energetic citizen. He has never married. Residence and P.
