[Special Dispatch to the Baltimore Sun.] CRISFIELD, March 27. – Richard Locker- man, an aged and influential citizen of Cris- field, died at his residence this morning of pneumonia. The deceased was taken ill a month ago, and on account of his advanced age he could not regain strength. Mr. Lock- erman was born on a farm in Caroline coun- ty, where he resided for about 40 years. For some years he served as deputy sheriff under his brother, William Lockerman. During this period he married Mary Etta Smith, of Harrington, Del. In 1872 he came to Crisfield and opened a store. Mr. Locker- man was a loyal Democrat, and was espe- cially bitter over the disfranchisement of the white voters shortly after the Civil War. On the accession of Governor Smith to office he was appointed justice of the peace, and a short time afterward was elected police magistrate of Crisfield. He is survived by a widow and five children – Frank Lockerman, of New York; Robert Lockerman, Nathan Lockerman, Mrs. Annie Somers and Charles Lockerman.
