Description	:	Richard Mack Harness, 81, 401 E. Kirkwood Ave., died at noon Saturday, March 8, 1997, at Jefferson County Hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. The body will be cremated with burial at a later in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation is open today at the funeral home. Harness was born April 22, 1915 at Birmingham, the son of Henry Mack and Cloudia Fickel Harness. He married Leona F. Williams on July 25, 1936, at the Methodist Church in Fairfield. She died Jan. 22, 1992. He attended Birmingham Schools. He moved to Jefferson County in 1937 and was employed at the Dexter foundry for 32 years and as caretaker for the city parks for 11years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in World War II. He was a member of American Legion 47 and VFW Post 2271 in Fairfield. Survivors include one sister, Wilda Corry of Birmingham, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bob.
