Description	:	FARMINGTON – Richard W. Griffin, “Sonny”, 90, of Wilton, died early Monday morning Oct. 24, 2016 at Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Living Center, Farmington. He was born March 31, 1926 in Boston, MASS., a son of Richard and Helen (Carroll) Griffin. He was a graduate of Brighton High School and was drafted in to the Army Air Corps during WWII. Read More	FARMINGTON – Richard W. Griffin, “Sonny”, 90, of Wilton, died early Monday morning Oct. 24, 2016 at Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Living Center, Farmington. He was born March 31, 1926 in Boston, MASS., a son of Richard and Helen (Carroll) Griffin. He was a graduate of Brighton High School and was drafted in to the Army Air Corps during WWII. He served in the Pacific Theater on B24 Bombers as part of the 307th Bomber Group. The day after returning from the war, he was employed at Cambridge Brake Service. From 1961-1992, he owned and operated Alignment Specialist in Quincy, Mass. He was known , with great affection, as “Red Bear”. Always close to his heart from his days of serving our Country, he maintained an interest in aviation and airplanes. He is loved by his wife of 65 years, Beverley Whiteley, whom he married in Osterville, MASS., on June 16, 1951, of Wilton; 4 sons: Richard W. Griffin of Weymouth, MA., Brian Griffin and his wife, Sandra of Farmington; Scott Griffin and his wife, Patricia of Hanson, MA., and William R. Griffin, Jr., of Weymouth, MA.; daughter, Terese Goings and her husband, Robert of Hooksett, NH; 9 grandchildren: Tammy Mayhew, Melisa Griffin, Christopher Griffin, William R. Griffin, III, Joscelyn Ulrick, Christine Griffin, Michelle Goings, Angela Gagnon and Robert Goings. and 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, Roy Griffin and his wife, Susan of Somerville, MA. He was predeceased by his father, Richard and mother, Helen Griffin Strafello; sisters: Dorothy, Frances and Margaret and daughter, Marlene Meader. In July of 2017, his family will hold a graveside service at the Hillside Cemetery in Osterville, Massachusetts.
