Wayne was born August 31,1937 at McCune,Kansas, a son of Lester and Ruth (Neher) Bennett. Wayne grew up and attended schools in McCune graduating in 1955 from McCune Rural High School. He married Carol Margaret Allen on July 22,1956 in the United Chapel Church at rural McCune,Kansas. She preceded him in death on February 14,1996. He married Mary Alice (Nelson) Baldwin on May 13,2001 in Denison, Texas. She survives of the home. After his family, Wayne's greatest love was farming. He loved driving the tractor... Wayne was born August 31,1937 at McCune,Kansas, a son of Lester and Ruth (Neher) Bennett. Wayne grew up and attended schools in McCune graduating in 1955 from McCune Rural High School. He married Carol Margaret Allen on July 22,1956 in the United Chapel Church at rural McCune,Kansas. She preceded him in death on February 14,1996. He married Mary Alice (Nelson) Baldwin on May 13,2001 in Denison, Texas. She survives of the home. After his family, Wayne's greatest love was farming. He loved driving the tractor but his greatest joy was driving the combine and seeing the fruit of his labor come in. He also loved to travel and had seen a lot of this great country. Wayne was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ in McCune,Kansas. The family received the Century Awaard from the Farm Bureau for the many years of farming at rural McCune. Survivors in additon to his wife,Mary of the home are sons, Stephen Bennett and wife Laura of rural McCune, Chris Bennett and wife Peggy of Arlington, Texas and Scott Bennett and wife Lisa of Girard; a daughter, Julie Bryan and husband,Kevin of Pace,Florida; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, twin daughters, Lorie Faye and Lisa Kay Bennett, brothers, James and Marion Bennett;and a sister, Frances Smith. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 13,2017 at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard,Kansas with Wayne's son, Pastor Scott Bennett officiating. Memorials to Carpenter Place Children's Home in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box 258, Girard, Ks. 66743.
