In Rita's obituary, which I have transcribed below, Carolyn is named as a stepdaughter. Finley died at 5 p.m. Feb. 23, 1986, at Sunnyslope Care Center. She was born Aug. 25, 1909, in Agency to Edward and Mary Miller Giltner. She married Clarence “Dutch” Hickman in 1944. He died in 1950. She married Paul L. Kolosick on June 13, 1963, in Ottumwa. She was a homemaker and member of Willard Street Methodist Church. She lived in Agency for 29 years and Ottumwa for 47 years. She is survived by her husband; a son, Larry Hickman of Ottumwa; a stepson, Paul Kolosick Jr. of Chicago; four stepdaughters, Carolyn Rhoads of Ottumwa, Pauline Brown and Patricia Young of Washington, Iowa, and Deloris Call of Columbus Junction; six grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of the Cross at Shrine of Memories Funeral Home in Ottumwa, the Rev. Wilbert Trusheim officiating. Entombment will follow in the Shrine of Memories Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve, Mark and Kevin Rhoads, Scott Hickman, Rob Sheridan and Don Kirkendall.
