Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday with a 7:30 p.m. rosary at Shultz-Vogel-Johnson Mortuary. --- Rita Mae (O'Brien) Van Dieken was born Jan. 19, 1937, in Tilden, the daughter of Alva and Lucy (McCarthy) O'Brien. The O'Brien family moved to Stanton when Rita was in the fifth grade in 1947. She was a graduate of Stanton High School in 1955. She married Theodore Van Dieken on Nov. 5, 1956, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Stanton. She owned and operated a cake decorating business in Stanton for a few years. Rita's husband Ted died in 1977, and she moved to Orlando in May of 1978. Survivors include her five children, Joan and Kevin McCarville of Lincoln, Julie and Kevin Kuester of Pilger, Anne Bahnsen of Orlando, Amy Turner of Orlando, T.J. and Julie Van Dieken of Lake Worth, Fla.; eight grandchildren, James, Matthew, Andrew McCarville, Ellie and husband Scott Burns, Michael Kuester, Kory Hoover, Tyler and Tucker Bahnsen, Mason Van Dieken; three sisters, Mary and Jim Schultz of Albany, Ohio, Bette and Gary Wolff of Stanton, Maureen Geisler of Omaha; sisters-in-law, Glendoris Cole of Cannon City, Colo., and Katherine and Norman Hansen of Ogallala. Rita Mae was preceded in death by her parents, husband Theodore (1977) and brother Joe O'Brien. The Rev. Timothy Lange will officiate. Music will be by organist Marianne Psotta, soloist-cantor Scott Burns and the congregation. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons James McCarville, Matthew McCarville, Andrew McCarville, Michael Kuester, Kory Hoover, Tyler Bahnsen, Tucker Bahnsen, Mason Van Dieken.
