Johnson, 87, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Avantara Norton in Sioux Falls with his loving family by his side. Robert was born on January 16, 1935 in Akron, Iowa, the son of Minerva Richters and Everett Johnson. He was raised by his grandma, Olli Richters in Richland, SD. He attended school in Elk Point. He was enlisted in the United States Army serving his country in 1952 and later went into Marine Corp on January 23, 1953. He was honorable discharged in 1955. He served during the Korean War. Robert was married to the love of his life, Evelyn May Gray on April 1, 1955. They were blessed with 6 children. Evelyn preceded him in death on March 5, 2020. In his spare time, he loved watching his grandsons play baseball, watching Price is Right in the mornings, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He especially loved his Minnesota Twins and playing Bingo. He traveled with his wife in his younger years. He is survived by his children, Susan (Earl) McKenzie, Lonnie (Patti) Johnson, Robbie Johnson and Idalesta(Keith) Boyd; 23 grandchildren, and 49 great-grandchildren; his brother, Denny (Linda) Schwandt of FL.; and his sister, Sandi Schwandt of Des Moines, IA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; his parents, Minerva Richters and Everett Johnson; two daughters, Rhonda Johnson and Ramona Lande; his brothers, David Schwandt, and Jerrald Jensen; his grandparents, Olli and Peter (St. Peter) Richters.
