Leigh and Julia Ann Bland. ~~~~~~~~~ The Gloucester Gazette (Gloucester, Va.), Thurs, 28 April 1921, p1, c5 Mr. Robert Edward Leigh died suddenly Wednesday morning, April 20, at about 11:30 o'clock, at his home near Pinetta, in the 56th year of his age. He went to work that morning as well as ever, but was soon taken ill and had to be brought home. He was a loving husband and father, and all was done for him that could be done, but without avail. He lived only three and one half hours after the fatal attack. he is survived by his wife, who was Miss Ella Ison, seven children and two little grandchildren. The children are Mrs. Julia Pillsbury, Mrs. Emma Shackelford, Willie E., Archie J., Robert E., Boydie E., and Ruby V. Leigh. He also leaves one half-sister, Mrs. Mary E. Hudson, besides a host of friends. Mr. Leigh had long been the faithful miller at Stubbs' Mill, and was a kind and tender husband, a devoted father and a faithful friend. The funeral services were held last Thursday at 3 o'clock, at Petsworth Church, conducted by Rev. R. A. Folkes, and the body was laid to rest in the family burying plot.
