Description	:	my children's 3x great-grandfather, Section 36M plot 120), located between Max Miner Wetherill and Elizabeth Gray which seems strange that he is not buried next to wife? Robert Houtzer was the son of German emigrant, John J. Houtzer , who came to U.S. about 1835, applying for citizenship in Darke Co. 1838, and died 1-6-1870 in Lima, but I have not found his burial place, photo of obit here. Robert's brothers were Henry Valentine Houtzer, of Lima then Van Wert, and John C. Houtzer, civil war veteran of Lima then Tully, OH. His mother was Marcuria KERN... Robert's brothers were Henry Valentine Houtzer, of Lima then Van Wert, and John C. Houtzer, civil war veteran of Lima then Tully, OH. His mother was Marcuria KERN who died 1846-7, I have not found her gravesite. Robert and his brothers did not care for their step-mother, family memories and census show that they were raised by other families after 1850 Salem, Shelby Co., census at Jackson Center, Shelby Co, OH . The boys had been locked out of their house during a snowstorm and Roberts feet, at age 5, were frostbite damaged and I speculate this is why he did not serve in the Civil War. Robert married, Adah "Addie" Elnora CURTIS; ( fa. Granderson Curtis,b. 1817, mo. Adah Elnora/Elvira? ROBINSON, b. 1821, buried Sproat Cem. M. 1-1-1839. ) m. 12-5-1869 by A.R. Krebs in Allen Co. 1850 Salem, Shelby Co., census, (near county borders of Shelby, Logan, Champaign) with his remarried father, brothers, and step-brother, George who will die by hanging in prison in 1880's. 1860 Jackson Center, shelby Co, census, Robert is living with brother, John C., with Edminston Family as a farm laborer. Surname is misspelled Howtzer. 1870 Allen, OH census married to Ada E. (Hartman), working as a bricklayer, living next door to bro. Valentine, potter, but with Cornelius ROUSH family (cousin?); real estate valued at $800. other brother, John C. , married to Elizabeth BOHYRE, lives in Jackson, Shelby Co., where they all use to live. 1880 I haven't found them, newspaper in 1878 lists them living on Metcalf St., sister, Viola's, memories states they lived on east High St., then on 5 acres, 2 miles west of Lima, then moved to Pine St. in 1885 and she went to Lincoln School. 1900, age 56, he and wife (her parents born CT) are living with son, Charles at 544 Pine St/Albert St in Lima/Bath twsp, Charles, dies July, 1904 in a freak work accident (see his memorial), wife Adah dies of cancer three months later, Robert moves next door to live 15 years with son, Franklin, until his November, 1919 death. 1910 lives with son Franklin's family at 542 S. Pine. They had 5 children; 3 lived, Charles, Franklin and Elzina Viola "Ola" Smith (Chas.), all of Lima and many descendants stayed in Lima. I am amazed Robert has NO headstone when his brother, Valentine and son, owned a monument business in Van Wert.
