Read More	From the Beatrice Daily Sun Beatrice, Nebraska (Gage County) Wednesday, February 22, 1961 Bob Goble dies in crash Beatrice pilot in collision over Minnesota airfield Robert Goble, 39, veteran Beatrice pilot, and William Hotzfield, 45, a Minnesota railroad executive from Minneapolis, were killed in a collision of their light planes at a Minnesota airport about 4:30 p.m. yesterday. Both were coming in for a landing from north to south at the Flying Cloud airport at Minneapolis when their planes collided about 250 above ground. Goble was flying charter for the Dempster Mill Mfg. Co. delivering foundry equipment to a Minneapolis concern at the time of the crash. Hotzfield was a vice president of the Minneapolis, Northfield and Southern Railway. Goble, who also flew ambulance service with the Cessna, had flown a patient to Rochester, Minn., prior to the fatal accident. Earlier in the day he had flown to Ogallala for a local pipeline. He lived at 2800 Lincoln and was born in Beatrice March 25, 1921. After graduating from high school he attended Lincoln Aviation Institute for two years. During World War II he was a civilian instructor for the Air Transport Command. In 1951 he returned to Beatrice and bought the Skyway Aviation Corporation. Airport Manager For three years he was manager and operator of the Beatrice Airport, but in 1954 he resigned as manager, but continued as instructor, mechanic and charter pilot. In addition he was a pipeline flight inspector for two pipelines. In this capacity he flew about 100,000 miles annually including a round trip of 1,300 miles twice monthly. He was assisted in the operation of the corporation with part time help from Don Fitzwater, airport manager, and Glen Fisher. A member of Centenary Methodist Church he was the son of the late Gage County Sheriff Ben Goble. He is survived by his wife, Sara Ellen; daughters, Kathy Anne, Patricia Lynn and Debra Sue, at home; his mother, Mrs. Ben Goble of Beatrice; two sisters, Mrs. Ted Muenster, Beatrice, and Mrs. William Knowles, Lincoln; and two brothers, Ben of Grand Island and Gene of Lincoln.
