He had suffered an attack of influenza, which was aggravated by complications. Tuesday evening he suddenly became worse, his death occurring early the next morning at the family home. Mr. Olerich was a son of John anad Kathryn Olerich, well known Carroll county pioneers. He was born on the old homestead in Kniest township, three and one half miles north of Mt. Carmel, Sept 4, 1889. He spent his boyhood in Kniest township Mar. 26, 1913, he was married to Miss Lydia Johnson of Carroll at the Methodist parsonage in Carroll. They resided on the Olerich homestead until 1924 when they moved to their present home. They were the parents of eight sons, Johnnie died at the age of five years and a daughter Violet at the age of three months. Surviving with his wife are the following children: Mrs Clarence Campell (Bernice) Wall Lake; Gilbert Olerich, Pontiac, Mi; Edward Olerich living on a farm near Auburn; Maurice, Pearl, and Rosemarie at home. There are also grandchildren. Mr Olerich was the first of a family of ten children to pass away. He leaves four brothers and five sisters: Frank and Otto Olerich, Carroll; William Olerich Breda; Earl Olerich, Lake City; Mrs Henry Koppelman, Auburn; Mrs Ed O'Tool, Lake City; Mrs Herbert Statts, Davenport; Mrs Donald Sloan, Des Moines; and Mrs Floyd Hackett, Carroll. His mother died Aug. 12, 1930, and his father, Jan. 26, 1931.
