He graduated from Tipton High School in 1942. He married Grace Irene Seys on June 1, 1947, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tipton. He was a carpenter for 30 years and later worked for HON in Muscatine until retirement. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He served in the Army during World War II from July 1943 to October of 1945. Survivors include his wife, Grace Countryman, a son, David Countryman of Tipton; daughters Carol (husband, David) Bradley of West Liberty, Nancy (husband, Dan) Pruess of Marshalltown, and Camellia (husband, Jim) Trcka of Tipton; grandchildren: Erin, Autumn, Christopher, Sonia, Dale II, James; brothers Hilbert Marion of Moline,Ill. and Clarence Richard of Davenport; a sister Blanche Bowman of Downey. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers; Charles William, Wayne D, Claire James and Francis (Fritz) Henry; 3 sisters, Florence Mae, Eloise Leota and Delores Helen; and a grandson John Vincent Turner. boards.ancestry.com
