Description	:	Son of Asaiah Smotherman and Mary Cooper. Robert Lee Smotherman was born June 19, 1871 at Hazel, Kentucky. He moved to the Teresita community in 1881 where he lived the rest of his life. On December 6, 1891 he was united in marriage to Annie Heavin. To this union was born two children. Mrs. Vergie Webb of Mountain View and Mrs. Jennie Estele Webb who preceded him in death in 1920. He was converted and joined the Pleasant Grove church in 1898 and has set an example for all his brethren in the church.... Read More	Son of Asaiah Smotherman and Mary Cooper. Robert Lee Smotherman was born June 19, 1871 at Hazel, Kentucky. He moved to the Teresita community in 1881 where he lived the rest of his life. On December 6, 1891 he was united in marriage to Annie Heavin. To this union was born two children. Mrs. Vergie Webb of Mountain View and Mrs. Jennie Estele Webb who preceded him in death in 1920. He was converted and joined the Pleasant Grove church in 1898 and has set an example for all his brethren in the church. He served as teacher of the Adult Class for about 40 years. He has also served as Church School Superintendent, Choir Leader and was a member of the Board of Stewards. He could very truly sing: I love Thy Kingdom, Lord, The house of Thine abode, The church our blest Redeemer saved with His own precious blood. Beyond my highest joy I prize her heav'nly ways, Her sweet communion, solumn vows, Her hymns of love and praise. His greatest interest was the church, but he had many other interests. He served as County Judge and for nearly 30 years was Justice of Peace. He was assistant postmaster of Teresita for 38 years. He owned and operated a store at Teresita for 22 years. Uncle Bob went to be with his Lord June 9, 1946. June 9 was the celebration of Pentecost. It was very fitting that this spirit filled life should on this day ascend to his Lord. Ten more days and Uncle Bob would have been 75 years old. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Annie Smotherman; 1 daughter, Mrs. Vergie Webb of Mountain View; 3 sisters, Mrs. Minerva Carpenter of the state of Washington, Mrs. Emma Cochran and Mrs. Ader Renegar of Teresita; 1 brother W.D. Smotherman of Chinook Montana; 7 grand children, Paul Webb and Victorene Holden of Mountain View, Robert Webb of Denver, Colorado, who is serving across the waters in the U.S. Army, Ovene Farrar of Scoot Field Illinois, Dwayne Webb of Kansas City, Missouri, Annalue Duncan and Wanda Webb of Mountain View. Those who love and cherish his memory are without number.
