Description	:	Robert Leslie Peterson, a long time resident of Blue Hill, was born on September 1, 1922, at Aurora to his parents, Alfred and Sarah Peterson, and was suddenly called from his life, at his home, on April 11, 1974. Read More	Robert Leslie Peterson, a long time resident of Blue Hill, was born on September 1, 1922, at Aurora to his parents, Alfred and Sarah Peterson, and was suddenly called from his life, at his home, on April 11, 1974. He had reached the age of 51 years, 7 months and 10 days. Robert grew to manhood and attended schools in the Aurora community. On September 9, 1940 he enlisted in the National Guard. Later during World War II, he was transferred to the U.S. Army and served in the Aleutian Islands and the European Theatre of Operations. He received his honorable discharge on October 19, 1945. For the past thirty years he was employed as a mechanic, first by a couple of business in Blue Hill and later operating his own independent business. On November 28, 1946, Robert was united in marriage to Rosemary Buschow of Blue Hill. To this union two daughters and one son was born. Surviving to mourn his departure are his wife, Rosemary; the daughters Jackie, Mrs. Ronald Stover of Omaha, and Mary, Mrs. Tim Nefzger of Kansas City and a son, Robert at home. In addition to the sons-in-law, and two grandsons, he is survived by a half-brother, Ray Peterson, a brother, Alfred Peterson, and a sister, Mrs. Ted Fogt (Jackie), all who reside in Grand Island. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary, in 1944 and a brother Clarence in 1963. At the time of his passing Mr. Peterson was a confirmed member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, having been received in 1948. Funeral services were held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. Herbert G. Peterson officiating. Mrs. Ralph Baird presided at the organ and Mrs. Wilbur Mohlmam was vocalist. Pallbearers were Bob Klusman, Duane Barnason, Bill Frahm, Carl Goll, Gaylord Goble and Dean Buschow. Merten-Butler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements and burial was in the Blue Hill cemetery.
