Stevenson, 61, a resident of the Fort Benton area nearly all his life, died suddenly Thursday afternoon at his ranch near here while working in the field, an apparent heart attack victim. He was born Dec. 7, 1907, in Claresholm, Alberta, and came to Montana and the Fort Benton area as a boy with his parents, who settled five miles east of town. Stevenson, 61, a resident of the Fort Benton area nearly all his life, died suddenly Thursday afternoon at his ranch near here while working in the field, an apparent heart attack victim. He was born Dec. 7, 1907, in Claresholm, Alberta, and came to Montana and the Fort Benton area as a boy with his parents, who settled five miles east of town. He had resided at the original ranch all his life since and farmed and ranched there until his death. He attended Fort Benton schools and married Mildred Legreid at Fort Benton Oct. 22, 1928. Survivors include his wife, Mildred; mother, Mrs. Lillian Stevenson, Great Falls; three sons, Marvin Stevenson, Great Falls; Leonard Stevenson, Seattle; Bobbie A. Stevenson, Edmonds, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Reynolds, San Jose, Calif., and Mrs. Shirley Carver, Kalispell; a brother, Leo Stevenson, Great Falls; three sisters, Rose and Dorine Stevenson, Great Falls, and Mae McClennan, Calgary; and 15 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Benton Funeral Home, with Rev. Don Robinson of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial was in Riverside cemetery.
