Read More	The Burr Oak Herald Burr Oak, KS Thursday, June 4, 1908 Page 5, Column 2 Robert Peirce Robert Peirce, son of William R. and Prudence Peirce, was born April 3, 1839, in Miami county, Ohio; departed this life May 26, 1908, having lived 69 years, 1 month and 23 days. At 12 years of age he moved with his parents to Grant county, Indiana. In 1865 he removed to Marshall county Iowa, settling on the wild prairie near Marshalltown, and made his home there until 1896 when he came to Jewell county and spent the remainder of his life here. In 1859 he was married to Caroline Newby. To this union five sons and three daughters. Those, who with their mother survive, are: William Peirce, of Marshalltown, Iowa; Glen and Merritt Peirce, of Burr Oak; Mrs. Lester Bailey, of Casper, Wyoming; Mrs. G. W. Cook, of Burr Oak and their foster daughter, Mrs. Edgar Craven, of Northbranch, Kansas; also survived by two sisters, Mrs. S. S. Moon, of Burr Oak and Mrs. Eunice Wilson, of Marion, Indiana. He was a birthright member of the Friends church, was converted in early manhood and has always lived a consistent Christian life. During his final illness of only eight days duration, his only sickness in over fifty years, he was never heard to complain or murmur but bore the pain with great patience, giving strong evidences of his trust and confidence in his Divine Master whom he had so long loved and faithfully followed, until he passed peacefully away leaving us to mourn the loss of a true disciple, a loving husband, a kind father and a faithful friend. The funeral services were held at the Walnut Creek church, on May 28, at 11:00 o’clock, conducted by Rev. James M. Steeley, of Guide Rock, Nebraska. Contributor: Lorena (46917011)
