Description	:	Feb. 17, 1927, Bulletin Journal, Thursday, Jesup: Robert Winn was born in Lincolnshire, England, August 15, 1838. He was the son of John and Sarah Winn and was the tenth child in a family of twelve. When he was 23 years of age he came to the United States, landing at New York city, October 1, 1861. Soon after he arrived in this country he came west and settled at Brookfield, Michigan. Read More	Feb. 17, 1927, Bulletin Journal, Thursday, Jesup: Robert Winn was born in Lincolnshire, England, August 15, 1838. He was the son of John and Sarah Winn and was the tenth child in a family of twelve. When he was 23 years of age he came to the United States, landing at New York city, October 1, 1861. Soon after he arrived in this country he came west and settled at Brookfield, Michigan. March 24, 1864, he was united in marriage to Harriet Thorp, of Brookfield, and they came to Iowa in July in 1864, settling on a farm in Linn county. June 30, 1873, Mrs. Winn died leaving him with a small family. Later he sold his farm and with his children moved to Center Point. About 1880 he went to South Dakota and took up a homestead. He remained there several years finally returning to Buchanan county and here he spent the remaining years of his life with his children. He passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A.G. Ham in Westburg township at the age of 88 years, 5 months and 25 days. He leaves to mourn his death three children, Mrs. W. Hertzberg, Mrs. A. G. Ham, and Frederick Winn, all residing near Shady Grove, also the following grandchildren, Willard Hertzberg and Mrs. W. Sherman, Westburg township; Mrs. Lloyd Vieths, of Waterloo, and Mrs. F. Cook, Oelwein. One grandchild and one great grandchild preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A.G. Ham at 1:30 o'clock, Saturday afternoon, February 12, conducted by Rev. F. H. Wyrick. Misses Sarah Bunnell and Florence Brown sang "Some Time We'll Understand" and "Face to Face". Interment was in the Spring Creek cemetery." Feb. 16, 1927, Conservative, Wednesday. Similar obit. Names pallbearers as Henry Diehl, Henry Tonn, Frank Peters, Will Hilton, Wesley Hilton and A. C. Holman.
