Description	:	Rodney G. Butler, 49, 921 9th Ave. S., died of cancer Friday morning on a cruise ship in the Caribbean. A memorial service is set for 7 p.m. Friday at the First Alliance Church in Great Falls. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Alliance Church in Chester, with burial to follow in the Chester Cemetery. The Rockman Chapel in Chester is in charge of arrangements. Born in 1938 in Great Falls, Butler attended Franklin Elementary and Great Falls High School. He served in the Navy from 1955 to 1959 and then remained in the Naval Reserves until 1963, at which time he attended the College of Great Falls. He graduated from Northern Montana College in Havre with a master's degree in elementary education. He taught school in Power for one year before joining the Chester public school system in 1965. He had lived and worked in Power since. He moved to Great Falls in March to be closer to medical treatment. Butler retired at the end of this school year. He was a life member of the Montana Education Association and a member of the Chester Education Association and the Highline Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa. The Family requests memorials be given to the Rod Butler Scholarship Fund, which was established by the CEA. Survivors include his wife, Tammy; daughters Cynthia Buck of Columbia Falls and Gina Colwell of Bozeman; stepdaughters, Amber and Heidi; father, Hilary of Riverside, Calif.; sisters, Lois Birdseye of Camarillo, Calif.; and Joan Baker of Great Falls; brothers, Larry of Great Falls, Francis of Globe, Ariz., Dale of West Covina, Calif., and Danny of Spokane; and one grandson.
