Anton Popelar was born in Pelhrmov, in Bohemia, May the 20th, 1852 and died in Meadow Grove, Nebraska, July the 16th, 1926, at the age of seventy-four years, one month and twenty-six days. At an early age, like many other men of his time, he decided to seek his destiny in America, and in the year 1876, he emigrated to the United States, making his first home in this country in the State of Wisconsin. After a short time spent in Wisconsin he moved to Schuyler, Nebraska, where on the 2nd day of June 1878, he married Rosa Hanzl. Some years after this he moved with his family from Schuyler to Howells, Nebraska, where lived until 1899, at which time he changed his home to Dodge, Nebraska. In 1911 he moved to Meadow Grove, Nebraska, where he continued to reside until his death. He was a good citizen, a kind husband and father, a believer in modern improvements, and in his dealings with his fellow man was strictly honest, which are important factors in the life of a man, and whose passing is always felt keenly in any community. He leaves mourning his sudden and unexpected death, - his wife, Rosa Popelar; three sons, Emil J. Popelar, Edward A. Popelar and Lumer F Popular, and one daughter, Mrs. Marie Otradovec. He is also survived by three grandchildren. Besides these he leave mourning his death a host of relatives and friends. Short services were held at the house at 9 a.m., conducted by Rev. Caldwell, after which the funeral cortege took the body overland to the Bohemian National cemetery, near Dodge, for interment. Services were held in the cemetery chapel at 2 p.m., Rev. Phillipi, officiating.
