Thornton and Pansy (Scites) Thornton Arnold, she had been a Shelby resident the majority of her life. On December 11, 1960 she married James W. Leohner who preceded her in death on January 15, 1965. Read More	SHELBY: ROSE ANN LEOHNER, age 83, former resident of Oak Street, Shelby died Friday, July 4, 2014 at Hospice House in Ashland. Born March 22, 1931 in Ironton, Ohio to Clarence E. Thornton and Pansy (Scites) Thornton Arnold, she had been a Shelby resident the majority of her life. On December 11, 1960 she married James W. Leohner who preceded her in death on January 15, 1965. Mrs. Leohner was a dispatcher with the Plymouth Police Department retiring in 1998. She was a member of the former King Road Alliance Church. A stamp collector, she enjoyed doing volunteer work with Hospice of North Central Ohio and the Nazarene Church in Shelby where she was a member prior to moving to Ashland. Survivors include her brother, Emory (Lois) Thornton of Galion, sister-in-law, Rita Leohner of Lancaster, son-in-law, Randall Boquist of Ashland, stepson, Allen Leohner of Lewis Town, Montana, nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Larry Leohner on March 29, 1962, her daughter, Joye Ann (Leohner) Boquist on August 21, 2012, and her step-father, Lloyd Arnold. Memorial services celebrating Rose Ann's life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby with Pastor Julie Thoms and Pastor Jennifer Darling-Mellott officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster, Ohio. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial expressions may be made in Rose's memory to Brethren Care Nursing Center, 2000 Center Street, Ashland, Ohio, 44805 and Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, Ohio, 44805.
