Read More	Salina Journal, The (KS) - Tuesday, October 25, 2016 Rose Merrie Richard LIBERAL - Rose Merrie (Patrick) Richard, 89, passed away Oct. 13, 2016. She was born Nov. 10, 1926, to Johan Oscar Patrick and Rosa Seattle (Hudson) Patrick near Marquette. She was the oldest of seven children; Joyce, John, Jesse, Duane, Laurel and Patricia. Rose was blessed to have good parents. They and her sister Joyce preceded her in death. Joyce was her best friend until she went to heaven. Rose attended country school at Daisy Hill through the sixth grade and then went to Marquette and graduated from high school on May 28, 1944. She worked as a waitress at the city bakery in Lindsborg after graduation, and on May 28, 1945, she married Robert Eugene Heart at the Lutheran church in Marquette. To this union Jerry Eugene, Cheri Rosanna, Larry Robert, Mary Roberta and Terry Marie were born. Rose and her children moved to Salina in 1961, and on Sept. 1, 1962, she married Doyle J. Wilson and was mommy to Dayle, Dawn, Mike, David and Judy. She had taken care of Dawn, Mike, David and Judy since Jan. 1962. On Dec. 23, 1968, she married Alcid (Sid) Richard and they lived in Glasco. Sid lived to make Rose happy. She was blessed. He was a good daddy to Jerry, Cheri, Dawn, Mary, Terry, Fran and Max. After his retirement, they traveled to 48 states and across southern Canada in their minihome. Sid died on Dec. 17, 2000. Rose made many dear friends as she traveled down the road of life and she shared the love of Jesus as her personal savior in 1952, after the death of her son, Larry Robert, on Nov. 7, 1951. She had two wonderful mothers-in-laws, Daisy Heart and Faye Wilson. Rose loved to plant and grow things. She had lots of beautiful flowers and plants and vegetable gardens wherever she lived. Rose had many different pets throughout her life and she enjoyed having all of them. Rose loved to play music and sing. She played the piano, organ, guitar, accordion and harmonica. For years she played at different churches. When her girls were growing up, she played and sang at 11 area rest homes for seven years, until rheumatoid arthritis hit. She was blessed to bring happiness to the older people. When we give happiness to others, we get much more happiness in return. God is good! Praise the Lord for his goodness in giving us his son that we might have salvation. Graveside service was held Friday, Oct. 21, at St. Mary's Cemetery, Glasco. Brenneman Funeral Home, Liberal, was in charge of arrangements.
