Harper Published: January 2, 2008 SCOTTSVILLE — Rosemary Graves Harper, 77, died Dec. 31, 2007, at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green. The Allen County native was a secretary, a graduate of Scottsville High School and Marsh Business College in Atlanta and was a lifelong member of Scottsville Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and on many committees. She was also secretary of the church from 1954 to 1966. She was an office manager at Harper Ford Sales from 1966 to 2001. She was a longtime member of Scottsville Woman's Club, where she was past president, and was honored twice as "Woman of the Year." She was on the board of directors of the Allen County Chamber of Commerce for eight years and was twice named "Member of the Year," serving also as chairman of the Beautification and Revitalization Committee. She was also on the board of directors of the Heart of Scottsville and was co-chair of the Heart of Scottsville revitalization project. She was an Allen County representative on the 31 E Heritage Corridor, was on the board of directors of the Cumberland Valley Civil War Heritage Association and was recognized as a "Woman of Achievement." She was also a member of the Democrat Woman's Club, Patrick Gilmore Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and Order of Eastern Star No. 60. She was a charter member and 10-year president of the Allen County Historical and Genealogical Society and was a Friends of Dumont Hill board member. She was a Kentucky Colonel and was recently honored by the mayor of Scottsville, the Allen County judge-executive's office, State of Kentucky Legislative Representative, The Heart of Scottsville, Scottsville Woman's Club and the Allen County Historical and Genealogical Society for her lifelong dedication to the celebration and preservation of Allen County's rich history. A personalized plaque with inscription and replica of the 1819 courthouse fencing was dedicated on July 12, 2007, on the Scottsville Public Square as a tribute to her contributions that will forever inspire present and future generations. She was a daughter of the late Eutra Hix Graves and Euleta Strait Graves and the wife of the late William E. "Bob" Harper. She was preceded in death by a brother, P.G. Graves; and a sister, Shari Lattimore. Funeral is at 2 p.m. Friday at Scottsville Baptist Church, with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery. Eastern Star service is at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today, at 8 a.m. Thursday and is from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home and begins at 1 p.m. Friday at the church.
