Mr. Truax was born January 10, 1920, in Eminence, Indiana, the son of Harry and Mary (Pruitt) Truax. Mr. Truax was a 1938 graduate of Mooresville High School and attended Rose Poly Technical Institute and the General Motors Institute. October 2, 2009 Ross Allen Truax 89, Mooresville, died October 1, 2009. Mr. Truax was born January 10, 1920, in Eminence, Indiana, the son of Harry and Mary (Pruitt) Truax. Mr. Truax was a 1938 graduate of Mooresville High School and attended Rose Poly Technical Institute and the General Motors Institute. He was a Group Project Engineer and retired from the Allison Division of General Motors in 1977, after 37 years of employment. He was awarded a patent in 1957 for designing a fluid pressure seal in high pressure gas turbine engines. He was a member of the unofficial Allisons "turbineers" or the engineers who designed turbine engines. He proudly served in the United States Air Force where he was commissioned as a second lieutenant, serving as a B-17 bomber pilot during World War II. He was also a lifetime member of the Mooresville American Legion. Mr. Truax was a sixty year member of the Mooresville Friends Church where he served in many capacities, including Sunday School Superintendent. He was also a member of the Quaker's Board of Western Yearly Meeting. In addition, Mr. Truax was a member of Gideons International since 1972 and was active with their college Bible placement distribution and the prison ministry. He was a founding board member of the Mooresville Christian School and had served as president and vice president of the Morgan County Weekday Religious Education Program. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Truax. Survivors include his wife, Doral Mae (Hadley) Truax, to whom he was united in marriage August 10, 1943; children, Margaret Beison of Jackson, Michigan and David Edward Truax of Mooresville; brother, Philip Truax of Fort Worth, Texas; two grandchildren; one great grandchild. Funeral Service will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 3, 2009, in the Mooresville Friends Church, 50 N. Monroe St. Friends and family will gather on Friday, October 2, 2009, 4 to 8 p.m., in the Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel, Mooresville. Pastor Sue Whitesel will officiate with burial following in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mooresville Friends Church or to Gideons International. www.carlisleandson.com
