Donald Hunzeker officiating. **** Rowene was born August 31, 1913, in Kearney County, Neb. north of Minden in Liberty Township to Adrian Clyde and Bessie Maude (Burchell) Wells. She grew up in the Minden area and graduated from Minden High School. On May 2, 1934, she and her high school sweetheart, Arthur Rasmussen eloped and were married in Smith Center, Kan. Two children were born to this union, Rennae Jean and Roger Allen. Rowene worked for many years at Skogmos Store in Minden and later worked at Bethany Home. She was a person that always worked behind the scene to keep things moving along smoothly. Rowene was very proud of her home and yard and everything had to be just right. She was very frugal and thrifty, not much went to waste in her home. Rowene and Art always liked sitting on their front porch on First Street, watching traffic and people as they went by. Most mornings you could find Rowene and Art at the Donut Shop, enjoying coffee and conversation with their long time friends. Being part of that morning group has been one of the things they have missed most after moving to Bethany Home. Art died in 2005. Rowene was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden and enjoyed their circles and quilting groups. Survivors include one son, Roger Rasmussen and his wife Sue of Queen Creek, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Laura Anderson of Lafayette, Calif., Michael A Rasmussen of Lancaster, Calif., Jeff Wallace and his wife Cristy of Mesa, Ariz., Scott Wallace and his wife Lisa of Martinez, Calif., and Vicki Perry and her husband David of Gorman, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Averi and Riley Rasmussen, Samantha and Michael Wallace, Joshua Perry and his wife Raegan, Adrianna Perry and Brennan Connor; one great-great-grandson, Jake Perry; one sister, Gladys Starr of Minden; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Art; daughter, Renae Rasmussen Wordmen and four sisters.
