Description	:	Roy E. Kirkendall, 97, of Falls City, NE, passed away July 19, 2014 at Falls City. He was born June 25, 1917 at Barada, NE to the late Jesse and Mary (Shafer) Kirkendall. On April 15, 1939 he married Merna N. Vice at Topeka, KS. Roy was raised at Barada and when married the coupe established their home in Barada and he worked for Ted Yoesel, later moving to Verdon, NE and working for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for five years. He was born June 25, 1917 at Barada, NE to the late Jesse and Mary (Shafer) Kirkendall. On April 15, 1939 he married Merna N. Vice at Topeka, KS. Roy was raised at Barada and when married the coupe established their home in Barada and he worked for Ted Yoesel, later moving to Verdon, NE and working for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for five years. In 1943 he started farming on his own and moved to Falls City in 1959 and he farmed and also worked for Falls City Auction Company. He retired from farming in 1969 and began working for Morehead Auto Company as a car salesman, retiring in 1979. He then worked for SENCA for nine years. He was a member of First Christian Church of Falls City, Falls City Elks Lodge and Falls City Saddle Club and had served on the Board of Harris Cemetery. Roy is survived by his wife, Merna of Falls C ity, sons, Ronald and his wife Janyce of Falls City, Daniel of Branson, MO, daughters, Connie Brown and her husband Leonard of Falls City, Cheryl McCann of Falls City and Richard McCann of Big Lake, MO, eleven grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, George, Ben, Dale, James, Arthur, Theodore, Charles, sisters, Elizabeth Alexander, Eliza Noll, Daisy Williams and grandchildren, Rodney Worth McCann and Michelle Peterson. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 10:30 AM at First Christian Church with Reverend Fay Ann Blaylock and Paul Weinert officiating. Interment will be in Harris Cemetery.
