He was born July 15, 1910, in Lawrence. He lived in Lawrence most of his life except for several years he lived in Kansas City before serving in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. Mr. Davis retired in 1974 as a salesman for Boyles Meat Company of Kansas City, Mo., where he had worked since the late 1940s. Mr. Davis was a member of the West Side Presbyterian Church and Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 of the American Legion, both of Lawrence. He was married to Maxine Agnes Cobb on Dec. 31, 1931. She died in 1972. He was married to Agnes D. Quillen on Jan. 11, 1975, in Lawrence. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Betty L. Baker, Topeka, and Vicki Leochner, Lecompton; a stepson, James L. Jackson, Oklahoma City; four brothers, Gordon, Topeka, and Clifford, Richard and Robert, all of Lawrence; three sisters, Marilyn Fisher and Vada Hancox, both of Independence, Mo., and Lila Reed, Payson, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
