Description	:	Roy Gilbert Young, the son of Roy M. Young and Lisa Marie (Christianson) Young, was born May 15, 1935, in Graettinger, Iowa. He was the youngest son of ten children born to Roy and Marie. Roy was baptized on July 28, 1935 at First Lutheran Church in Graettinger. Roy spent his early years in Graettinger and Woodward, Iowa. Rev. O.J. Reitz was serving as pastor of the Lutheran church in Graettinger while Roy was living in Woodward. Rev. Reitz was very instrumental in having Roy return to Palo Alto County so that he could be near his family as well... Read More	Roy Gilbert Young, the son of Roy M. Young and Lisa Marie (Christianson) Young, was born May 15, 1935, in Graettinger, Iowa. He was the youngest son of ten children born to Roy and Marie. Roy was baptized on July 28, 1935 at First Lutheran Church in Graettinger. Roy spent his early years in Graettinger and Woodward, Iowa. Rev. O.J. Reitz was serving as pastor of the Lutheran church in Graettinger while Roy was living in Woodward. Rev. Reitz was very instrumental in having Roy return to Palo Alto County so that he could be near his family as well as his church family. Roy was truly a joy to be around. He was perpetually happy and always ready to share his beautiful smile. He liked listening to the radio and loved to go for car rides. Roy particularly enjoyed his friends at Kathleen's Residential Care and the Emmetsburg Care Center. He was dedicated and enthusiastic worker for Horizons Unlimited. Roy was a lifetime member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger. Roy's friends and family were important to him and he was appreciative for what they did for him. Jim, Joann, Jimmy and Julie Schoning are grateful to have had the opportunity to have known Roy and to have shared in his life. Roy passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2011, at the Emmetsburg Care Center at the at age of 75. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Merle, Charles, Leo, Sam and Frank; and sisters, Janette, Ruth and Doris. He is survived by his brother, Vince Young of El Cajon, California; many nieces and nephews; his families at Kathleen's and Emmetsburg Care Center; and his dear friends, the Schoning family.
