Description	:	Ruby Marie Sund, the daughter of Frederick and Lydia (Mueller) Kottmeyer, was born on November 13, 1927, the oldest of 5 children on a farm northwest of Superior, Nebraska. She passed away on May 16, 2008 in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 3 days. The family moved to farm northwest of Bostwick in 1928 and continued to live their as the family grew up. She was baptized on December 4, 1927 at Salem Lutheran Church by Rev. August Schult and Confirmed on August 24, 1941 at Salem Lutheran by Rev Ludwig Scholl. She attended the... She passed away on May 16, 2008 in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 3 days. The family moved to farm northwest of Bostwick in 1928 and continued to live their as the family grew up. She was baptized on December 4, 1927 at Salem Lutheran Church by Rev. August Schult and Confirmed on August 24, 1941 at Salem Lutheran by Rev Ludwig Scholl. She attended the Sandy Knob District 81 school and then two years of high school in Bostwick and graduated in 1944 from the Superior High School. She then completed the normal training program at Kearney State Teachers College and then taught for 5 years at the Sandy Knob and District 10 rural schools. On August 7, 1949 she was united marriage to George F. Sund at Salem Lutheran Church and to this union 4 children were born. Ruby was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church, she enjoyed time with her family, farm life, cooking, gardening, quilting and corresponding with friends. Her health conditions limited many of her favorite activities later in her life. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ray Kottmeyer. She is survived by her husband George of rural Guide Rock, Nebraska, daughters, Rosemary Anderson and husband Roy of Guide Rock, Nebraska and Sharon Portenier and husband Kif of Harvard, Nebraska. Son's, George F. Sund Jr. and wife Ann of Cambridge, Nebraska and James Sund and wife Pam of Stevenville, Montana. Nine grandchildren, Dawn Caldwell and husband Matt of Edgar, Nebraska, Gail Martin and husband Jeremy of Hershey, Nebraska, Abbie Albrecht and husband Andy of Thurston, Nebraska, Chris Anderson and wife Neile of Hastings, Nebraska, Adam Sund and wife Tara of Yokosuka, Japan, Troy Anderson and wife Meghan of Guide Rock, Nebraska, Kilee Oetjen and husband Hank of Lincoln, Nebraska and Jessie Portenier and Allie Portenier of Harvard, Nebraska. Five great-grandchildren, Kaydee and Emmet Caldwell of Edgar, Nebraska, Chase Martin of Hershey, Nebraska and Courtney and Alexis Anderson of Hastings, Nebraska. Brothers, Roy Kottmeyer of Guide Rock, Nebraska, Fred Kottmeyer and wife JoAnn of Broken Bow, Nebraska and one sister Nancy Hall and husband Dick of Wymore, Nebraska along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 11:00 AM from the Salem Lutheran Church in rural Superior, Nebraska with Rev. Barbara Bauer officiating. Music was "How Great Thou Art", "Going Down The Valley One By One" and "Beyond The Sunset", sung by Alfred & Janell Hanson. Sonia Schmidt was organist. Pallbearers were Matt Caldwell, Chris Anderson, Troy Anderson, Jeremy Martin, Hank Oetjen, Andy Albrecht and Adam Sund. Honorary pallbearers were Dawn Caldwell, Gail Martin, Neile Anderson, Meghan Anderson, Tara Sund, Kilee Oetjen, Abbie Albrecht, Jessie Portenier and Allie Portenier. Interment was in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery near Superior, Nebraska. Memorials may go in care of the Guide Rock Fire Department or EMT's or the families choice.
