Schubarth, 79, of Sidney and formerly of the Potter area, died early Monday morning, March 30, 1998, at the Memorial Health center in Sidney. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sidney with the Rev. Greg Hafeman officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran South Divide Cemetery on the Nienhueser family plot. Visitation was Wednesday at the Holechek Funeral Home. Memorials may be made in care of The Lutheran Hour or the Memorial Health Center Hospice program. He was born March 29, 1919, at the Musil family farm north of Potter to Arthur and Lydia (Steffens) Schubarth. He attended the country parochial school at St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Potter. He was confirmed and remained a member of that congregation until he transferred his membership to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sidney. He was an active member of that congregation until his time of death. He helped his father on the family farm and then started farming on his own in 1939. On Dec. 2, 1945, he married Eldora Nienhueser at the Trinity Lutheran Church South Divide. He farmed northeast of Potter until he retired in 1989 and he and his wife Eldora remained on this farm until they moved to their present home in Sidney in 1991. Survivors include his wife of Sidney; daughter Janice and her husband, Glenn Miller; grandson Brett Miller and granddaughter Renee Miller, all of Denver; brother Walter of Sidney and Elmer of Potter; sisters Viola Hilpert and Edna Hilpert, both of Potter, and Hilda Jacobs of Sidney; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, George, and an infant grandson, Chad Miller.
