Mr. Anderson died July 22, 1999, at his home. Mr. Anderson was an attorney and cattleman with the family owned Anderson Cattle Co. for more than 50 years, before he retired in 1993. He was a Democrat and candidate for Kansas attorney general in 1954 and the Kansas State Senate in 1966 and worked with the Democratic Party throughout his adult life. He was the city attorney in McPherson from 1951 to 1960. He practiced law in Emporia from 1960 to 1993 and in McPherson from 1938 to 1960. He was a lieutenant junior grade in the U. S. Navy, having served from 1944 to 1945. Russ B. Anderson, the son of E T. and Cora F. Bjorkback Anderson, was born March 14, 1911, at Burdick. He married Helen Irene Ives on June 1, 1939. She died March 24, 1978. Mr. Anderson was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in McPherson. He was a member of the boar of trustees of Bethany College. He is survived by a son, Ward B. Anderson of Aurora, Colo; two daughters (text missing) of Casa Grande, Ariz.; a brother, Robert L. Anderson of Tulsa, Okla; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A daughter Karin Wolff, and a brother Kenneth Anderson, died earlier.
