Dory, 68 years old, who has lived 66 years on a fam four miles southwest of Fontanelle, died in the university hospital in Iowa Dity last Thursday, following an illness of about a year. He had been a patient in the hospital only a few days. The body was brought home Friday and funeral services were held in the Congregational church Sunday afternoon. Obituary Russel Gilmore Dory was born in Alamakee county, Iowa, May 8, 1862, and departed this life August 28, 1930 at the age of 68 years, 3 months and 28 days. When still a baby he moved with his parents to the community southwest of Fontanelle, Iowa, where he lived on one farm 66 years. He was married to Miss Maude Johnson, December 27, 1885, and they became the parents of five children. Two daughters preceded their father in death: Lottie, who died when twelve years old; and Zola, Mrs. Glen Redding, who died September 11, 1929. He is survived by his good wife and three children: Charles, of Fontanelle; Katy and Rex, at home. He also leaves three brothers, Fremont, of Fontanelle; George, of Bridgewater; and Wellington, of Creston; three sisters, Mrs. Jane Snively, Boulder, Colorado; Mrs. Viola Miller, Fontanelle; and Mrs. Wealthy Snyder, Prosser, Washington; also four grandchildren. Years ago Mr. Dory became a member of the Church of Christ, which was then active in fontanelle, under the ministry of elder Brooks. He was a man who thought much of his many friends and left the request that deep appreciation might be expressed for all the acts of kindness shown him and the family by friends and neighbors, especially mentioning Mr. and Mrs. Richard Feick and family, who live nearby and whose many acts of kindness helped to make the burden easier during his illness. Russell was a printer.
