Description	:	Russell Raymond Hamilton was born on a farm near Elk Point, SD on November 13, 1923, the son of Raymond and Elnora (Hultgren) Hamilton. He attended Prospect Hill School and grew to manhood there. During World War II he served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. Read More	Russell Raymond Hamilton was born on a farm near Elk Point, SD on November 13, 1923, the son of Raymond and Elnora (Hultgren) Hamilton. He attended Prospect Hill School and grew to manhood there. During World War II he served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. On November 8, 1952 he was united in marriage to Enid James at Canton, SD. Following their marriage they farmed on a home farm near Alcestor, SD until January 1955 when they moved to Casper, WY. In 1967 they moved to Hammond, IN and the moved to Lennox, SD in 1975 where he had since lived. He was employed as maintenance supervisor at Luther Manor in Sioux Falls, SD until ill health forced his retirement in 1986. Russell was a member of the Brethorst-Burma American Legion Post 174 in Lennox. He was preceeded in death by his father in 1952; his mother in 1984; two sisters: Opal, in infancy, and Mrs. Quintin (Anita) Anderson in 1980. Following an illness of two years, Russell died at Royal C. Johnson Memorial Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on June 3, 1988. He attained the age of 64 years, 6 months, and 20 days. Surviving are his widow, Enid; three sons: Scott Hamilton of Virgina Beach, VA, Gary Hamilton of Mesa, AZ, and Collin Hamilton of Sioux Falls; two granddaughters: Janet and Kayla Hamilton; three sisters: Mrs. Vernon (Lucille) Fodness of Lennox, SD, Mrs. Forrest (Marlys) Ericson of Bemidji, MN, and Delores Homandberg of Sioux Falls, SD.
