John Grummon, Simpson Federated Church, officiated. Ruth Gentry was born Jan. 22, 1916 to Millard Guy and Lula Mae Smith Bingham at Fresno, Calif. She departed this life Thursday, Feb. 20, 1986 at her home near Simpson, Ks., at the age of 70 years. Ruth and her family moved to Kansas when she was a small child. They moved to Wichita and later moved to Salina, Ks., where she graduated from Salina High School in 1935. She attended Brown-Mackie School of Business at Salina for two years and began working for the Oehlert Caterpillar Company of Salina as a secretary in about 1937. Ruth and Johnnie Gentry, Jr., were united in marriage Nov. 9, 1940, at the First Methodist Church in Salina. To this union were born three children: Sondra, Jo Ann and Donald Gentry. They moved to the Simpson community in 1942. Traveling, family, and her grandchildren were three things that brought Ruth much happiness. She enjoyed seeing the United States on numerous vacations and enjoyed reading and knitting. She was very fond of her family and was a loving and faithful mother and grandmother. Ruth greatly enjoyed her six grandchildren who will miss her very much. She was a member of the Simpson Federated Church, the Simpson Senior Citizens Club, and was a charter member of the Homemakers' Club. Ruth was active in the Baptist Missions Society. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents. Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Johnnie Gentry, Jr. of the home, two daughters, Sondra Fisher and her husband Tom, Concordia, Ks.; Jo Ann Emmot and husband Dave, Salina, Ks.; and Donald Gentry and wife Carol, Simpson. She is survived by two aunts, Myrtle Fitzgerald, Sullivan, Ill., and Blanche Smith, New York, N.Y. Music was furnished by Mrs. Wilbur Pearson and Robert Vernon with Mrs. Robert Tatro, organist. Casketbearers were Richard Anderson, Pete Beaumont, Clark Darnell, Joe Jindra, Wilbur Pearson, and Tom Shaffer.
