Carper Brown was born on June 30, 1893, in the Logan Township, Smith County, Kansas, to Nickolas VanBuren Carper and Mary Reynolds Givens. She passed away on Monday, August 6, 1984, at the Webster County Community Hospital in Red Cloud, Nebraska, at the age of 91 years. She grew up in the Logan Township area and had attended the old Red School District #40. She taught school before she was married to frank Brown on May 3, 1914. They made their home in the Pawnee Township where they farmed until Frank's death in December of 1952. Shortly thereafter, she moved to the Red Cloud community where she worked as a seamstress until her death. She was a member of the Inavale Church of Christ. She is survived by one brother, Michael VanBuren (Van) Carper of red Cloud; several nieces, nephews and a host of many friends. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 8, 1984, from the Simonson-Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Red Cloud with Wayne Keifer and Chuck Kent officiating. Rev. and Mrs. Don Carper sang "When They Ring Those Golden Bells" and "The Love of God" accompanied by Mrs. Sylvia Beams, organist. The casket bearers were Bill Brown, Marvin Brown, Dr. Owen Carper, Jim Franklin, Bob Peterson and Wendell Peterson. Interment was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
