Description	:	On Monday evening, March 14, 2011, Ruth Marion Korkow Taylor, of Boise, died peacefully in her sleep after an extended illness. Ruth was born on April 18, 1924 in Yale, the youngest of five daughters and eight boys, to Otto and Lucy Korkow. Read More	On Monday evening, March 14, 2011, Ruth Marion Korkow Taylor, of Boise, died peacefully in her sleep after an extended illness. Ruth was born on April 18, 1924 in Yale, the youngest of five daughters and eight boys, to Otto and Lucy Korkow. Ruth is preceded in death by all of her family, except for her sister, Esther, of Cheyenne, WY. In her late teens, while living on the family farm, Ruth met her husband of 60 years, Leonard A. Taylor (1919-2003). She married at 18, shortly before her husband was shipped to England for the war in Europe. Ruth raised the first of her five children alone, living with some of her sisters in Laramie, Wyo. Upon her husband's return from WWII, they made their home in Pierre, where their second child was born. Shortly thereafter in the winter, they loaded all their possessions into a truck and started out for a new life, again in Laramie. Somehow during the move, the truck caught fire and burned everything they owned. They started their new life with nothing but each other. Once in Laramie, they raised their family and added three more children. During her life, Ruth lived in Wyoming and Colorado, and then finally moved to Boise in 1992, so that they could be closer to their children. In addition to running the home, she always worked in the restaurant business, even owning her own place for a while. Raised in the adversity of the Depression, Ruth and her siblings grew up very close and maintained that closeness throughout their lives. Much of Ruth's adult life was devoted not only to her husband and children, but also her brothers and sisters. If one word were chosen to reflect Ruth's life, it would be "determination." She devoted her life to accomplishing more for her children and family, than she had experienced as a child. She taught all of us from an early age that you succeeded by working hard, and being independent. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Ed) Greene, of Montrose, CO; sons, Tom (Marilyn), of Garden Valley, Dennis (Judi), of Boise, David (Mary), of Vancouver, WA, and John (Heather), of Boise; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Esther. A service for Ruth will be held Friday, June 24, 2011 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pierre, and then she will be laid to rest with Leonard at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Ruth's name to the National Kidney Foundation.
