Description	:	Christian Biography of Ruth M. Giger Ruth Mildred Giger, the daughter of Emil Ruzicka and Anna E.(Moravec) Vrana, was born on September 23, 1918 in Bee, Nebraska. She passed away on August 31, 2009 at the Superior Good Samaritan Society in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 90 years and 11 months and 7 days. Ruth was baptized into the Christian faith in 1934 by Rev. Petersen in David City, Nebraska. Read More	Christian Biography of Ruth M. Giger Ruth Mildred Giger, the daughter of Emil Ruzicka and Anna E.(Moravec) Vrana, was born on September 23, 1918 in Bee, Nebraska. She passed away on August 31, 2009 at the Superior Good Samaritan Society in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 90 years and 11 months and 7 days. Ruth was baptized into the Christian faith in 1934 by Rev. Petersen in David City, Nebraska. Her early education was in Seward County elementary schools at Bee in Seward county and Utica and Bunker Hill rural schools in Cheyenne County. She received her high school education in Sidney, Bee and David City schools graduating from David City with the class of 1936. After having completed her normal training courses, she taught in Dist. 113 in Saunders county which is now a museum at the State Fairgrounds in Lincoln. Ruth received her B.A. degree and graduated with honors from Hastings College and the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She retired from teaching after 30 years in the Nuckolls County Schools which were Beaverville, Pleasant Valley and Beach (which is now part of the Nuckolls County Museum and the Superior School system. She was united in marriage to Elmer George Giger in 1937 in Doniphan, Nebraska and to this union of 63 years three children were born, Douglas Allen, Janice Ruth and Carol Ann. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for more than 56 years. She was active in the Baptist Church as a Deaconess and Sunday School Teacher for 26 years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Honorary Teachers Organization, and teachers organizations at many local, state and national levels. In 1971 she was listed in the elementary publication, "Who's Who for Outstanding Teachers. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elmer on February 27, 2001, her son Douglas Giger on April 21, 1954 and one brother Lin Vrana. She is survived by her daughters Janice Miller and husband Richard of Tekamah, Nebraska and Carol Ann Watters and husband David of Randolph, Nebraska. Five grandchildren, Rick Miller and wife Mary, Upland, California, Michelle Snyder and husband Jim of Spokane, Washington, Tim Watters and wife Genie of Panama, Nebraska, Scott Watters and wife Teresa of Winside, Nebraska and JeNae Kort and husand Randy of Plainview, Nebraska. Great-grandchildren, Richie and Nicholas Miller, Garrett and Brandon Watters, Christian, Anna and RamWatters, Andrea and Allyson Kort. Ruth is also survived by her sister, Doloros Epping of O'Fallon, Ill., brothers, Ted W. Vrana and wife Muffy of Lincoln, Ne., John W. Vrana and wife Norma of Peoria, AZ, sister-in-laws, Arleen Giger, Phyllis Giger and Florence Turner and a brother-in-law, Ralph Giger and wife Roberta along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ruth's life motto was "Make a difference in each life you touch, make it for the good!"
