Redeker Ruth O. Redeker, 83, 807 W. Taylor Ave., died at 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at Nelson Nursing Home. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Stephen C. Page officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Prayers and rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home. The Altar and Rosary Society recitation of the rosary will be at 4 p.m. and family visitation will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials have been established to Masses or the St. Jude's Children Hospital. Mrs. Redeker was born July 20, 1914, at Riverside, the daughter of Fred and Bertha Matucha Kupka. She grew up in the West Chester community, graduating from West Chester High School. She married Frank W. Redeker on Sept. 7, 1935, in Washington, Iowa. He died July 30, 1971. They lived in rural Washington until moving to the Fairfield community in 1959. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society, Victory Club, Farm Bureau and had been a 4-H leader. Survivors include one son, Frank of Birmingham; three daughters, Genevieve Altenhofer (sic. Altenhofen) of Chariton; Irene Shultz of Lacona and Jane Davis of Eldon; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sister Francita; a grandson; and one sister, Mildred Kupka.
