Mrs. Brubaker was born in Taylorville, Ill., Nov. 6, 1879, and moved to Franklin with her parents in 1888. She was a graduate of the Franklin Academy in literary and music, where she afterwards taught harmony for two years. She was a faithful and active member of the Nelson Presbyterian Church and of Chapter J, P.E.O. She is survived by six sons and daughters, Mrs. Charles B. (Elna) Barrett of Honolulu, Hawaii, Mrs. W.B. (Dale) McCoy of Austin, Tex., Gordon of Palmerton, Pa., Mrs. Glenn (Beth) Pickrel of Downers Grove, Ill., Mrs. H.W. (Sheila) Shreck of Hastings, and Cecil of Lincoln, and nine grandchildren. Mr. Brubaker died Nov. 10, 1954. The family suggests expressions of sympathy and esteem may take the form of memorial gifts to the Nelson Presbyterian Church. Burial is to be in the Nelson cemetery (sic). Brubaker were held Saturday afternoon, April 22, at the First Presbyterian Church in Nelson. Interment was at the Nelson cemetery (sic). Mrs. Brubaker was a resident of Nuckolls county (sic) for over 50 years, having come to Superior from Wilber in 1910 and then to Nelson in 1912 when her husband was elected to serve as County Attorney. Ruth Brubaker's life was one of service to others. Her major concern in life was the welfare and happiness of the six children born to the Brubakers. The community was served by her in the many hours devoted to the work of the Presbyterian Church and of the City Library. Mrs. Brubaker was born Ruth Peck in Taylorville, Ill., on Nov. 6, 1879, to Albert R. and Lucy A. Peck. She came with the family to Franklin, Nebr., in April of 1888. She was graduated from Franklin Academy in Literary and Music and taught harmony there for two years. On Dec. 20, 1906, she was married to Harvey Austin Brubaker in the Peck home in Franklin. Their first home was in Lincoln where Mr. Brubaker was attending law school. Only two more moves were in their future -- to Superior and to Nelson where Mr. Brubaker served this community and country until his death on Nov. 10, 1954. Since that time Mrs. Brubaker has continued to live in the family home with her sister, Miss Josephine Peck, who only recently moved to the Good Samaritan Village Infirmary in Hastings. Mrs. Brubaker's one club affiliation was membership in the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was initiated into Chapter J Nebraska in 1913. During her forty-eight years in P.E.O. she served enthusiastically as member and officer. At the age of eighty-one years she was still active on the program planning committee. On March 25 Mrs. Brubaker was taken to Mary Lanning Hospital where her terminal illness continued until God called her to rest on April 19, 1961. She is survived by two sisters, six children and nine grandchildren. The two sisters are Miss Josephine Peck of Hastings and Mrs. Ernest Davis of Derby, Ia. The six children are Elna M. Barrett (Mrs. Chas. B.) of Honolulu, Hawaii; Dale McCoy (Mrs. W.B.) of Austin, Tex.; Gordon Brubaker of Palmerton, Pa.; Beth Pickrel (Mrs. Glenn) of Downers Grove, Ill.; Sheila Shreck (Mrs. H.W.) of Hastings; and Cecil S.
